Family Fun

Naperville's Last Fling is a fun family event, right?.....NOT. Well we thought it would be considering the sluggish economy and the fact that people are generally broke for the most part. Well, we get in line to purchase the ride tickets when I noticed the price of them.... $1 per ticket. Oh but wait, there is a special. You get 33 tickets for $30. WOW, what a bargain. Can they spare. Well, I thought about it for a second. I guess that's not so bad. I thought the rides were probably 1 or 2 tickets, depending on the ride, right?....wrong. All the kiddie rides, and I mean all of them, are 3 tickets per ride...merry-go-round, the silly little cars, motorcycles that go around in a circle, that cheesy little haunted house, and get this, the blow up jumpy. You know the one. That thing that you rent for like $150.00 for the whole day, and 100 kids could be in it for the whole day. These people are charging $3.00 for 3 minutes. I have 2 little kids, ages 4 and 6. So it cost 6 bucks for my kids to jump in the jumpy for 3 minutes. I like to take my kids out for a day of fun, and it winds up costing me over $100. I'm sorry folks, but the way things are right now, I can't afford that much for one afternoon. For that much, I could go to the Dells or Great America and get my moneys worth. It's bad enough that the rides cost as much as they did, you should have seen the condition of them. They were completely run down. On the cars, none of the horns or the lights worked. In fact, one of the trucks had a flat tire, and instead of having it fixed, they kept it in there with the one tire dragging. In general, none of the rides looked in very good shape. I'm sure they check them for safety, but they sure don't do anything extra like oil, paint or change light bulbs and horns. There was one other thing that bothered me about this company, one of ride attendants had her infant with her in a stroller in the hot sun while she was tending one of the rides. That's right, you read it right. She would take the tickets and then go to the ride control switch and proceed to operate the ride while her baby sits in the stroller in the hot sun. You mean to tell me that All Around Amusement Co. couldn't find someone without a baby to work? In closing, I don't know who sets the prices for these events, but the towns that hire these companies should monitor their prices to be fair for their citizens.
